United Ready For Home Opener Against Lone Star
Reading looks to stay atop Mid Atlantic Division with a home victory

READING, PA (May 21, 2022) – Reading United opens its 2022 home slate on Saturday evening at Alvernia University against Philadelphia Lone Star FC, looking to continue its strong stretch of play to open the season. Gates open at 6:00pm for the anticipated 7:00pm kickoff at Alvernia University. Individual game tickets are still available for purchase at readingunitedac.com, and season tickets are available until noon on the website. Season tickets will not be sold at the gate.
Reading will be celebrating Hometown Heroes Night in advance of Memorial Day, as Keystone Military Families and Western Berks Ambulance will be in attendance for fans to learn about and support.
Reading has opened the season on a high note, with a 1-1 draw collecting a point on the road, then a 3-1 road win against the defending division champion West Chester United SC has the team atop the Mid Atlantic Division to open the season.
United snapped a 1-1 tie in their last game as Ryan Kuster broke the stalemate in the 54th minute, while Isak Sedin added the insurance goal in the 88th to secure the club’s first ever victory over West Chester.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia is on the opposite side of the spectrum to start – losing its season opener 5-1 at home to Real Central New Jersey last Saturday. Former United player Alvin Dahn could line up on the opposite side – a member of Reading’s 2019 squad that advanced to the USL League Two Final.
The teams split a pair of games last season, with Lone Star taking a 4-2 victory at home on June 5th, while Reading repaid the favor with a 4-1 victory at home on July 2nd. It was part of a four-game losing streak to finish the season for Philadelphia, who allowed four straight tallies to end the game. Andrea DiSomma polished off his hat trick in the 68th minute, while Pedro Bottene tacked on an insurance goal in the 79th. Reading is now 2-1 all-time against Philadelphia, including a U.S. Open Cup victory in 2019.
