United Tangles With Real Central New Jersey On The Road
Reading looks to remain undefeated in 2022 play with a road tilt in the Garden State

READING, PA (May 26, 2022) – Reading United hits the road to the Garden State to face off against Real Central New Jersey on Friday evening, beginning at 7:05pm. It will be a matchup of the current second and third-place teams in the Mid Atlantic Division entering the weekend, as Reading has started undefeated at 1-0-2 while RCNJ sits at 1-1-1.
The sides met twice in Real Central’s inaugural season in USL League Two, finishing in draws both times as part of a stretch that saw Reading collect points in five of its final seven games to end the season. The first game saw RCNJ knot the game up twice late, with a 45th minute goal erasing what looked to be a 1-0 United lead entering the break, then again in the 81st after Reading scored just a minute earlier.
The second game ended up in a 0-0 stalemate, as Reading ripped off nine shots on frame but were denied on all attempts.
Reading’s undefeated start comes by virtue of a pair of ties bookending an impressive 3-1 road win against West Chester United on May 18. United nearly took all three points against Philadelphia Lone Star on Saturday in the club’s home opener, settling for a 2-2 draw at Alvernia. After Philadelphia took a 1-0 lead into the half off a deflected free kick, super-sub Marten Imping netted a pair in the 52nd and 84th minutes for a 2-1 lead. Lone Star stole a point just a minute later, combining for a near post goal that leveled things for the final.
United will return home for a pair of games against familiar rivals on Wednesday, June 1 and Saturday, June 4 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Alvernia University. Wednesday’s match will see Lehigh Valley come to town for the first time this season, and the second matchup of the year between the clubs. Ocean City Nor’easters will follow for a weekend tilt on Saturday.
Game day tickets for all remaining home dates are available for purchase at readingunitedac.com for just $7+fees or for $10 at the gate.
