6/10 Is 610 Day. The Men Come Home.

One date, one area code, one homecoming at Alvernia, and your tickets are sorted.

Happy Monday, Reading United family. Look at the date: Wednesday is June 10, 6/10, which just happens to spell our area code. The 610. After four straight on the road, the Men’s 1st Team comes home to Alvernia on the one night of the year that carries our number, and we’re making it 610 Day. Special features all night, all built around the place we play for.

Two quick things before the main event: tickets are fixed and on sale, and one of our own just picked up a national honor.

NATIONAL HONOR — WPSL: Anna Buckwalter Named National Defensive Player of the Week

Captain and holding midfielder Anna Buckwalter (Reading United AC and Binghamton University) has been named the WPSL’s National Defensive Player of the Week for Week Four, chosen from more than 60 nominations across the entire league.

She logged 165 minutes anchoring the middle of the park, and still found the final ball three times, assisting on three of Reading’s eight goals on the week. She set up a goal in a 5-0 road shutout of West Mont United, then ran the engine room in a hard-fought 2-2 home draw with PA Classics in Leg 1 of the Keystone Derby. The week pushed the Women to 2-1-0 and up to No. 8 in the WPSL East Region.

Congrats, Anna. The 610 is proud of you.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR — Wednesday: A Full Day of Soccer at Alvernia

Alvernia University · June 10 (6/10) · 610 Day · Ocean City, twice in one day

Make a day of it. The Nor’easters bring two teams to the Fortress, and so do we:

  • 3:30 PM — Men’s Reserves (Mid-Atlantic) vs Ocean City Nor’easters Reserves. Free to watch, and a first look at the next wave on the Path2Pro.
  • 7:00 PM — Men’s USL2 Home Opener vs Ocean City Nor’easters.

It’s a heavyweight homecoming. Ocean City rolls in at 4-0-0, but this rivalry runs deep:

  • The 62nd all-time meeting between the clubs, a series that dates back to 1996, when they were the Reading Rage and the South Jersey Barons.
  • Reading went unbeaten against Ocean City in 2025 (1-0-1), including a 2-1 win on the road.
  • Michiharu Takanashi leads the team with 3 goals in the first four matches.

Best of all, it’s 610 Day. The date on the calendar is our area code, so we’re celebrating the 610 all night. Wear your colors, rep your town, and let’s #DefendThe610 together.

The 610 Day Special: $6.10 gets you a Reading Premium beer and a bag of Martin’s chips. A local pour, a local crunch, all for our local number.

USL2 kickoff 7:00 PM · Gates one hour prior · Alvernia University.

THE WEEK THAT WAS — RESERVES: A Statement Win and a Tough Night

Men’s Reserves Roll 5-0 at York

Remember the young side we sent to York as genuine underdogs? They answered emphatically, a 5-0 road win over York PA FC that flipped the script from their opener. This group is growing up fast under Coach McLaughlin. Next up: Saturday, June 13 at Keystone FC U23 · 6:00 PM · Penn State Harrisburg Stadium.

Women’s Reserves Fall 2-0 at Home

Sunday wasn’t the result the U23 Women wanted, a 2-0 decision to Back Mountain Torrent at Alvernia. It’s a young roster banking valuable college-level reps, and they get a quick shot at the response, a road rematch with the very same opponent this Wednesday. Next up: Wednesday, June 10 at Back Mountain Torrent · 7:30 PM · Misericordia University.
