United set to face unbeaten Red Bulls

READING, PA (June 16, 2017) – Nearing the midway point in the 2017 Premier Development League season, Reading United A.C. (4-1-0) will host the Mid-Atlantic Division leading New York Red Bulls U23 (7-0-0) in a crucial match at Exeter High School’s Don Thomas Stadium on Saturday June 17th. The match will be played as part of Reading’s annual Kicks Against Cancer Night with the United wearing commemorative jerseys that will auctioned off at the end of the match.

Reading currently sits in third place in the Mid-Atlantic Division, while New York Red Bulls U23 is in first place with 21 points.  The Red Bulls are currently one of five Premier Development League teams to still be unbeaten.  In this past week’s Eastern Conference Rankings, the Red Bulls were ranked No.1 while United was rated No. 3.

United’s only loss of the 2017 campaign came in their last meeting with New York. The Baby Bulls struck early with a goal from Jorge Aguinaga in the second minute. Reading got goals from Hugo Delhommelle and Nathan Brown but fell 3-2 at the Red Bulls Training Facility in Whippany, New Jersey.

Reading United are unbeaten in their last three league games and will look to continue their excellent run of play. United enter the match coming off a strong road victory against Evergreen F.C., 5-2. Frantzdy Pierrot scored a hat trick to lead United to the victory. Evan Finnegan and Delhommelle each contributed a goal in the contest. Delhommelle, who is tenth rated prospect in the PDL, has a league leading five assists.

The high flying Red Bulls head to Reading with a six point lead at the top of the Mid-Atlantic Division. The Red Bulls come into the match against United after a dominant 4-1 win over their local rivals, Jersey Express. New York forward Brian White vaulted into the league lead in goals scored after he put four goals past the Express.

White is the Red Bulls leading goal scorer with nine. He’s been the standout player for a Red Bulls squad that is stocked with top talent. He is No. 20 on the second edition of the PDL Top Prospect List.

The last time these two teams played each other at Don Thomas Stadium, the match ended in a tie, 2-2. Brett Campbell and Paul Marie had the goals for United before New York roared back with two goals late in the match to earn a share of the points.

United’s next league match will be on Tuesday June 20th at 7:30pm at Exeter’s Don Thomas Stadium. Reading will face the Evergreen FC Hammers. Tickets are available at 9h9.f8e.myftpupload.com/ or on game day at the Don Thomas Stadium ticket office.
