2026 Buildup – Keystone Derby Week

Keystone Derby Week Is Here

Two mid-week roadies. One marquee Saturday at Alvernia.

Happy Tuesday, Reading United family — and a sincere thank you to every service member, veteran, and Gold Star family who made this Memorial Day weekend possible. We hope you got to slow down, fire up the grill, and spend a few hours with the people who matter most.

Berks County did its best to test our patience with the weather — the rain made it a soggy long weekend — but if your Monday cookout got rescheduled to the garage, you’re in good company.

One bright spot from the holiday stretch: the WPSL squad opened the season at Alvernia on Friday, May 22 and took all three points against West Mont United. The women now sit 1-0-0 heading into a busy week — and that momentum could not be timed better, because we’ve got three matches in four days.

Missed it under the lights? Watch the home-opener highlights on YouTube — best two minutes you’ll spend on a Tuesday.

Tonight — Wednesday, May 27

Both teams on the road. Both at 7:00 PM kickoff.

USL2 — Men @ Real Central NJ

The men open their road slate at Mercer County Community College (West Windsor Campus) tonight, looking to bounce back from a tough opening-night result against LVU Rush. Real Central are coming in off a 1-0-0 start of their own, so expect a tight, physical 90 minutes from a side that knows how to defend its turf.

Kickoff: 7:00 PM · MCCC Soccer Stadium, 1200 Old Trenton Rd, West Windsor, NJ · Free parking, gates open one hour prior.

WPSL — Women @ West-Mont United

Five days after handling West-Mont at home, the women hit the road for the return leg at Ursinus College’s Patterson Field in Collegeville. West-Mont will be hungry to settle the score on their own grass — our job is to ride the home-opener momentum and head into Saturday with two wins on the board.

Kickoff: 7:00 PM · Patterson Field, Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA.

Saturday, May 30 — Men on the Road, Again

USL2: at Eagle FC · Mountain View HS · 7:00 PM

Straight from West Windsor, the men point the bus west for the second half of this week’s back-to-back away set. Eagle FC are one of the new faces in USL2 this year and are quickly making the Harrisburg corridor their fortress. The schedule will not do us any favors this week — two road matches in four days — but a hard-earned point or three out here puts the table back in our favor before the home stand starts.

Match of the Week — Saturday at Alvernia: The Keystone Derby Begins

WPSL: Reading United AC vs PA Classics · 7:00 PM · Alvernia University

If you’ve only got room on the calendar for one match this week, this is the one. Saturday night is the first-ever leg of the Keystone Derby — a brand-new marquee rivalry born out of the strategic partnership between Reading United AC and PA Classics announced earlier this month.

Two clubs. One youth-to-pro pathway across the greater Reading-Berks region. And starting Saturday, an annual derby designed to be a premier fan and community experience — pre-professional soccer on the pitch, in-game activities for kids, food, atmosphere, and regional pride wrapped around the whole thing.

The WPSL squad gets the honor of kicking off the rivalry. Both sides are early in their league campaigns, but stakes don’t need standings to feel real — and a packed Alvernia under the lights is exactly the send-off the women have earned after the home-opener win.

Kickoff: 7:00 PM · Alvernia University · Gates one hour prior.

Don’t watch it on a clip. Be there.
